I was on Elavil for over 2 years and found that it worked for my migranes. However, this miracle
drug
did not come with side effects. Within those 2 years, I put on over 20lbs of excess weight. Just so
you
know, this was while I was on a fitness program, working out on a treadmill 45-60 minutes 4-5
days per
week...still with the weight gain. Because of the increase in weight, I had to increase my Vasotec
(for
blood pressure) to 15 mg in the morning and 15mg at bedtime because my blood pressure kept on
increasing
as well. I knew that the side effects of Elavil were out weighing the benefits of it. With my
Doctor's help I slowly went off this medication and am just suffering through my migranes. I was
initialing
taking 25mg of Elavil at bedtime, down to 10mg and then finally 5mg over several months. I
stopped
taking Elavil the first week in September. I have continued my exercise program...doing the treadmill
4-5 days per week, 45 minutes each time. The extra weight is not coming off. I have noticed that
other people are having the same problem...I thought I was going crazy and the only one going
through
this. I have never had a weight problem before this...what is going on and how can I reverse
the damage. Is it going to be impossible, it seems like it. I don't have an E-Mail address, so could
you please just respond to this? I am really looking for some solid advice, my Doctor doesn't seem
to have any except maybe put me on a prescription to help me lose weight. I am not going to do
that...I
think that is foolish. HELP!
