I have been on Elavil since 1990. After an operation for a Tarrsel Tunnel of my left foot caused disabling pain. I had nerve entrapment and was put on only 10 mg and then increased to 25mg. It helped with the burning and pain in my foot.I then was in an auto accident that resulted in whiplash and later to a permanent condion called Spasmodic Torticollis. I now take 75mg for the severe pain. Yes it caused weight gain and cravings for sweets
